Hollie Doyle: Historic five timer

Hollie Doyle is a successful flat jockey. Today (29th August 2020) she made history by becoming the first female jockey in the UK to ride five winners in one day at Windsor Racecourse. This was followed by a treble of wins on Sunday!

Speaking after riding five winners Hollie Doyle said “It feels great, someone just told me. When I woke up this morning I thought it could go one way or the other. I could have a good day or a really bad day! The last few years have been awesome, but you’ve got to keep on improving and pushing more and more. I like riding under pressure, I feel with the better rides I got I like it more. I love riding horses, you’ve got to to do this job.”

Hollie rode the Mick Channon-trained Indian Creak, Sur Mer for Robert Cowell, Le Don De Vie (Hughie Morrison) and Extra Elusive (Roger Charlton) and Mistress Nellie for trainer William Stone, saying “I’m just blessed to get the leg-up on these type of horses, they’re good horses.”

Hollie is currently lying fifth in the Flat Jockeys Championship and became the fastest women in a decade to reach 50 winners in a season. She is a likely contender for champion jockey one day soon. 2020 has been an incredible season for Hollie with a first Royal Ascot win back in June.
