Coronation and Badminton Horse Trials Clash

King Charles III and the Queen Consort coronation and Badminton Horse Trials, presented by Mars Equestrian, are currently clashing. Therefore it has been decided that the 5* competition will start a day later than planned so that cross-country day does not clash with this historic Royal event.

Badminton Horse trials will now run from 5th – 8th May 2023 with the dressage phase will now taking place on Friday and Saturday, cross-country on the Sunday and the show jumping finale on Monday. The dressage talking place on the Saturday will start early so that competitors, spectators and officials can watch the Coronation service which will be shown on the big screens.

Badminton Event Director Jane Tuckwell said “Ever since the news came through that the Coronation would be held on the Saturday of Badminton we have been working out how best to deliver the Event around the celebrations. We very much hope that the wonderful and historic occasion of the Coronation will make it a truly memorable Badminton and that everyone will be able to attend as usual.”

Badminton Horse trials takes place in May each year in the park of Badminton House in Gloucestershire which is the home of the Duke of Beaufort. It was first held in 1949 and is now one of the only six annual Concours Complet International Five Star competition.

Spectator tickets for the 2023 competition are currently on sale.
