14.2 11yrs none Mareish mare
Not a novice ride in the school/jumping. She isn’t a child’s 2nd pony and would suit an older teenager/adult. Shes not nasty in any way, can just panic and get strong if you do not ride her nicely. No buck/rear etc and doesn’t have a malicious bone in her body.
She’d be a great hacking and endurance pony (not strong hacking & goes for miles- all day) or showjumping pony. Has never hunted with us however I believe she’d enjoy this with a confident rider.
Besides her quirks, Blackie is a truly fantastic pony. She’s got the sweetest nature on the ground, absolutely easy to do in every way. Would load herself, travels a total dream, stands all day to be pampered. Barefoot with great feet, good for dentist/farrier and clipping.
Blackie is a safe ride, and if you ride her properly will go lovely for you. She really tries her hardest to please but needs someone who has soft hands and a calm nature.
Out hacking Blackie is anyone’s ride! She’s been ridden by me since I was 16, Ruby since she was 13 and by my mum in the 5 years she’s been with us. Alone/company, first/last. Fine in open fields, will give you a good gallop when asked with breaks. Really enjoys exploring with her person. Spot on in all traffic and with all farm machinery as lived on a working farm with us so has seen it all. She’s had dogs barking at her legs, stood waiting for trains to pass etc, doesn’t bat an eyelid.
She has 3 balanced paces, VERY responsive off the leg in the school. Ridden in a gag and she is happy in this (2nd ring). We have tried hundreds but she sits sweetly in it.
Never reared/bucked and I don’t think she’d have it in her as she’s so good natured. Flat work isn’t her forte and it isn’t fair for her to be asked to do this so she won’t go to a home who wants to ride circles in the school all day.
Jumping she is bold & brave never stopped or ran out with us. Jumped consistently around 90 in her previous home always placing, SO fast against the clock and careful with her legs. Will get you out of any sticky situations and go off any stride. Happy to jump around small jumps or jump competitively around a bigger track. Xc schooled with us and been to the beach which she loved, had excellent breaks and was very well mannered.
Passed a 5* vetting when we bought her (albeit 5 years ago) Upto date with worming and all vaccs. Seen physio and saddle fitter etc regularly. Open to any vetting.
Ruby has done lots with her this summer and had a wonderful time hacking etc however she is starting to think about her career and unfortunately a pony doesn’t fit into this, hence sale.
